What are soft unhardened carbon steel balls?

Soft unhardened carbon steel balls are AISI 1010/1015 low-carbon spheres supplied without carburizing or through hardening.

Their value is weldability, machinability and formability—not high wear resistance, corrosion resistance or bearing fatigue performance. They are appropriate for fabrication and low-stress mechanical functions.

The typical range is 0.5–38.1 mm, with larger or special sizes subject to manufacturing review.

What precision grades can be supplied?

Typical commercial grades are G200, G500 and G1000. These balls are selected for workability rather than high-precision bearing duty.

How corrosion resistant is this material?

They are not corrosion resistant. Specify oil, plating, barrier packaging or an alternate material for humid or wet service.

Are these steel balls magnetic?

Yes. Soft low-carbon steel balls are magnetic.
