MOLYBDENUM-BEARING AUSTENITIC STAINLESS

AISI 316/316L Stainless Steel Balls

Corrosion-resistant stainless balls for marine, chemical, food, medical, pharmaceutical and demanding fluid-control environments.

AISI 316/316L Stainless Steel Balls supplied by SDBALLS
PRODUCT REFERENCE / FINAL SPECIFICATION BY QUOTATION

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

What are aisi 316/316l stainless steel balls?

AISI 316 and 316L balls are molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel spheres selected for stronger corrosion resistance than 302/304 in many chloride, marine and chemical environments.

They are non-hardened stainless balls intended for corrosion-focused applications rather than high-load bearing or severe-wear service. 316L provides lower carbon content when required by the purchase specification.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Start with measurable requirements.

Values below are product-family references. The quotation, drawing, agreed standard and inspection plan control the final supply specification.

PRODUCT SELECTION GUIDANCE

Compare materials before substituting.

Material selection affects load, wear, corrosion, temperature, precision, service life and total program cost.

KEY PERFORMANCE FEATURES

Performance that purchasing teams can verify.

01

Enhanced corrosion resistance

Molybdenum improves performance in many chloride and marine environments compared with 304.

02

Clean & passivated finish

Supports hygienic, chemical and product-contact equipment requirements when correctly specified.

03

Non-hardened toughness

Austenitic structure provides toughness but should not be selected for high hardness or severe wear.

04

316L low-carbon option

Supports projects where lower carbon content is required by the material specification.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Specify the work the ball must perform.

Application names are starting points—not approval of universal suitability. Share the real medium, load, speed, pressure, temperature, life target and compliance needs.

Marine & high-humidity systems

Valves, pumps and mechanisms exposed to salt, humidity or chloride-bearing environments.

Chemical processing

Flow-control and process components after exact medium, concentration and temperature review.

Food & pharmaceutical equipment

Cleanable components with agreed material and documentation requirements.

Medical & laboratory devices

Selected non-implant mechanisms, couplings and instruments subject to buyer validation.

QUALITY & DOCUMENTATION

Build the evidence into the purchase order.

Document requirements should be defined before quotation so the inspection method, sampling level, traceability and external testing can be planned correctly.

  • Material verification against the agreed steel grade and purchase specification
  • Diameter, tolerance and precision-grade inspection using calibrated equipment
  • Hardness and heat-treatment verification when applicable
  • Surface finish and visual-defect inspection to the agreed acceptance criteria
  • Roundness / sphericity and lot-consistency inspection for the specified precision level
  • Batch traceability through heat, lot and controlled production records
  • Material certificates and inspection reports available when agreed before quotation
  • RoHS, REACH, PPAP-style records and third-party testing by project agreement

PACKAGING OPTIONS

Protect precision through delivery.

Final packing depends on material, diameter, surface sensitivity, order weight, storage time and destination.

01

Small-quantity packing

Size-separated bags, bottles, trays or protected containers for samples, repair and qualification lots.

02

Bulk industrial packing

Inner bags, cartons, pails or steel drums selected around diameter, total weight and handling method.

03

Surface protection

Clean/dry, passivated, lightly oiled or rust-preventive packing according to alloy and storage risk.

04

OEM & export packing

Customer labels, counted packs, batch separation, export pallets and line-ready packaging by agreement.

Supported formats: bulk packaging · small-quantity packaging · plastic containers · bags · cartons · export pallets · customized packaging.

PRODUCT FAQ

Answers for engineering and purchasing teams.

What sizes are available?

The reference supply range is 0.5–150 mm in metric and inch sizes.

What precision grades can be supplied?

Common grades include G100, G200, G500 and G1000. Application-specific tolerance and surface requirements should be stated directly.

How corrosion resistant is this material?

316/316L offers very good general corrosion resistance, including many marine and chloride environments, but no alloy is universal. Confirm concentration, temperature, pressure and exposure time.

Are these steel balls magnetic?

They are normally non-magnetic, but cold working can produce slight magnetic response.

Can SDBALLS provide material certificates and inspection reports?

Yes. Define the required material certificate, dimensional report, hardness report, compliance record, PPAP-style documentation or third-party test before quotation so the correct inspection plan can be priced.

Do you support samples and small-quantity orders?

Yes. SDBALLS Industry Corp. supports North American buyers with samples, prototype quantities, repair lots and small-batch programs where the requested size, grade and material condition are available.
